Prevent Pests 
 

Indoor Housekeeping

• Wipe all food and liquid spills immediately

• Wipe kitchen counters often, along with sweeping/mopping under appliances

• Dispose of garbage regularly, keeping bins sealed

• Remove any spider webs and ensure basement, crawl spaces and attics are dry and well ventilated

• Store food in sealed containers (not on the floor)

• Wash clothes, bedding, rugs/carpets regularly

• Fix all leaky pipes and faucets

Outdoor Housekeeping

• Get rid of standing water in close proximity to the house, fix any leaky outdoor taps/faucets

• Trim shrubs, bushes, branches away from your home, raking and disposing of any debris around house

• Store firewood away from the house and off the ground

• Regularly clean gutters and down spouts

• Keep garbage bins and composters away from the house and sealed tightly

• Remove all spider webs on exterior of house, such as around down spouts, mailboxes and lights

Proofing

• Seal any entry point from the outside to prevent pests from entering your home, especially areas where pipes, wires or cables enter the home

• Ensure window/door screens are free of rips/tears and fit securely 

• Repair/replace any damaged weather stripping or door sweeps
